There, Griko is spoken as it was when the Greeks first crossed the Strait of Otranto in the 11th century BC, where the transcendental turquoise waters of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas meet as one. In that Griko and Standard Modern Greek are close cousins, you can partake of the delights of both Italy and Greece without moving an inch.
